International Premier Tennis League 2015
by MAC

What a delight this turned out to be. I have to admit to being sceptical beforehand and my brain has struggled to understand the set up for this exhibition tournament (this article helps to explain it) but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Rafa was playing for the Micromax Indian Aces in Manila and New Delhi, alongside Fabrice Santoro, Ivan Dodig, Rohan Bopanna, Sania Mirza and Samantha Stosur.

In each tie he played one set of doubles and one of singles. And what a lovely time he had. It was such a joy to watch him having so much fun. He so loves to be part of a team.

On Monday, Rafa played and won both a set of singles against Tomas Berdych and, paired with Ivan Dodig, a doubles set against Tomas Berdych and Daniel Nestor.

On Tuesday, Rafa lost a tight singles set against Milos Raonic, and, partnering again with Ivan Dodig, won a doubles set against Richard Gasquet and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

In New Delhi, before his matches, he took part in a tennis clinic for children...

...then it was back to supporting and playing for his team. Rafa, paired with Rohan Bopanna, defeated Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Treat Conrad Huey in doubles, and Rafa defeated Roger-Vasselin again in singles.

On Saturday, Rafa defeated Roger Federer in singles, and, paired again with Rohan Bopanna, defeated Marin Cilic and Roger Federer in doubles, too.

His team are currently top of the leader board. We don't expect him to play any more matches for them, though.

It was a great week and just wonderful to see Rafa so happy.
